CDC Confirms Presence of Salmonella in Peter Pan Peanut Butter

The Center for Disease Control has confirmed the presence of Salmonella bacteria in the peanut butter that people have claimed made them ill. This all took place after ConAgra Foods recalled all Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter after the products have been linked to nearly 300 people nationwide. After this latest revelation from the CDC, ConAgra's CEO, Gary Rodkin, offered an official apology stating, "We are truly sorry for any harm that our peanut butter products have caused."

No one to date knows how the salmonella bacteria, which frequently originates from bird or animal feces, got into the peanut butter. Industry and government officials believe the bacteria was already in the jars as the heating process involved in making peanut butter would have most likely killed an of the bacteria.
